Christian Home Schooling

How can a parent shield their child from the negative influences found in many public schools?

Christian home schooling is a solution many parents have found. Taking prayer out of schools and removing basic symbols of faith has resulted in the public school system becoming less and less inviting to the Christian child.

Many parents feel that the minorities, who do not want any aspect of Christianity in our schools, have more rights than those who do want it. The ongoing battles, such as creation versus evolution, are making it harder to raise a Christian child in this secular environment.

While some parents can afford to move their children into a private school, many cannot. For most, the tuition is out of reach, leaving them to turn to a Christian home schooling program.

Choosing Christian home schooling

Public schools can be a dangerous environment. Many parents are frightened by the prevalence of bullying, violence, drugs, and gangs, which is found in many of the public schools.

Many parents feel the exposure to non-Christian ideas is more of a threat to their child than the violence. It is the subtle undertones of the secular environment that disturbs them the most.

Confusion - a dangerous situation to place a child in

The Christian child can easily become confused. A young child who daily enters a world filled with messages that may contradict their home life can end up not knowing what to believe.

For many parents they do not want to send their child into an environment that has daily temptations. Unfortunately their teachers are often not able to help, even those who desire to help, find their hands tied by the system.

From drugs to evolution, the children find themselves surrounded and pressured from all directions. Christian private schools can improve the environment but they can be very expensive, setting them far outside the means of the average family.

Christian home schooling solution

Christian home schooling gives the power back to the family. At home, parents can better shape the environment in which their children learn. They can eliminate the worldly influences of the public schools without the price of the private schools. At home, parents have control of both the environment and the curriculum.

A curriculum that supports Christian beliefs

Christian home schooling enables parents to not only tailor education to their children, but also to incorporate their religious instruction. Public education has moved against the Christian way of life to the point that students can even find it difficult to pray.

Add to this environment a curriculum that often teaches non-Christian theory. The mandatory studying of Darwin’s theory of evolution, rather than the creationist theory can leave a Christian student confused.

Why shelter them from the real world

Some critics accuse those who choose Christian home schooling of isolating their children in an attempt to hide them from a world that they will eventually have to deal with.

The parents respond to this as a form of protection, not isolation. They realize that young children are not able to sort out all of the conflicting messages. To blindly allow them to be exposed to this on a daily basis is, in their opinion, irresponsible parenting.

Should their children have to be exposed to daily temptations in a worldly school program when all they want is an education? Parents believe that the fight against the world can come later, after they have armed themselves with Christian values.

One does not send a soldier into battle and hope they learn to fight. No! First hey train them, teach them discipline and the necessary skills needed to survive. Only then are they prepared for battle.

For many parents, Christian home schooling is the best way to prepare their children for the future ... as does the Catholic home schooling system.
