Religion is the center of the lives of many people. In fact, those who devoutly follow a faith wish their children to follow the same path of religious devotion.
Some parents just want to raise their children with sound values and ideals regardless of a specific faith. In either case the public schools of today do not allow for this.
What other choice do they have than to educate their children in a home environment where their Christian beliefs are present?
It is no wonder why many Christians choose a Christian home schooling curriculum when deciding to teach their children on their own.
Pros and cons
Although a Christian home schooling curriculum vary in look, delivery model or concentration there are consistent underlying beliefs. A Christian curriculum places an emphasis on the teachings of the bible while incorporating its messages into all aspects of life.
This is not to say that it ignores important things such as math, science, and history, but the central themes of the Christian faith are interwoven into these academic subjects.
For example, religiously based literature may be implemented into a study of English.
Strong reasons for
In a world full of crisis and violence, there are those who praise the Christian curriculum! Todays society, with its questionable morals, is a place in which people are lost and often searching for direction.
A child who learns through a Christian home schooling system develops a deep sense of faith and a Christian value system. These will serve that child for the rest of his or her life. Faith is a gift that will last a lifetime.
As with everything there are those who approve the effects of it and those who are against it.
These people believe that academic instruction and religious instruction should be kept separate from one another. Religion and academics are indeed two separate things, and some feel it is better if they do not influence each other.
Some people fear that Christian home schooling techniques will produce a narrow-minded child, who is so unshakably enveloped in the Christian faith that they will grow to believe every other faith can be treated with less respect.
Maintaining Christian values
To be sure, modern society is not rooted Christian values. For many parents the non-Christian attitudes, media and messages that are in the mainstream public schools are not acceptable.
Parents who use Christian home schooling material believe that is the best way to educate their child.
Ultimately, the choice to implement a Christian system into a childs life is up to the parents. The choices are plentiful.
